Lavender is beginning to bloom in Littleton, Colorado, and it’s almost time to visit Chatfield Farms’ Annual Lavender Festival.
With 2,000 plants reaching peak-bloom in mid-July, it’s sure to be a sight to
behold, so set your calendars and get your cameras ready.
The lavender gardens will open to the public
for this special family-friendly event on Saturday, July 19th from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m.. Guests can expect to see two species of lavender and nearly 15 varieties
of the flower, with colors ranging from white to deep purple. There will be
horticulturists on hand to teach about the fragrant herb, as well as plenty of
wonderful and unexpected lavender products made by local artisans for purchase.
Guests must pre-purchase tickets for admission
to the event. Members of Denver Botanic Gardens
will be first in line, with access to tickets at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18th.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, June 21st at 10 a.m. Adult
admission is $13, while members, seniors (65+), students, and military can
expect to pay $10. Children from 3-15 are $7 and youngsters under the age of 2
will receive free admission.
Barrel train rides are included free of cost
for kids up to 15, and families can catch a complimentary hayride around the
property to check out the wetlands while in attendance. Live music from Odessa Rose West
(9:30-11:30 a.m.), The Denver Dolls (12:30-1:30 p.m.), and Shelvis and the Roustabouts (3-5:30 p.m.) is also
included in the admission price. There will be a variety of food, dessert, and
drink vendors onsite to suit every palate, so bring an adventurous appetite and
try some lavender-inspired delicacies!
Food and craft vendors will accept cash only
while at the festival. There will be ATMs available for customers.
