Each year, Colorado’s farmers markets bring fresh produce
and handcrafted goods to our Front Range
cities. Littleton residents love stocking up on locally grown fruits and veggies
while supporting area agriculture. The Littleton Farmers’ Market by Aspen Grove is back with even more vendors, activities, and eats.
Here’s what you should know about this Saturday shopping extravaganza.
When & Where
From June 16 to September 29, 2021, the Littleton Farmers
Market takes over the parking lot of Aspen Grove – downtown Littleton’s open
air retail center. Aspen Grove’s cozy alleyways, charming shops, and meandering
pedestrian pathways make this town square a great place to spend the day. Each
Wednesday throughout the summer, pick up produce from 10 am to 2 pm.
Meet the Vendors
The Littleton Farmers Market is one offshoot of the greater Metro Denver Farmers Market, which is the oldest in the area. This local Colorado group has
brought fresh farm goods to hungry patrons for the past 40 years and now runs
five locations during its summer season. Visitors to the Littleton Farmers
Market will find a number of vendors selling everything from fresh-made
sausages to earrings and everything in between.
Looking for fresh, Colorado-grown produce? Look no further
than Forte Farms or Ant D’s Fine Foods. These
two vendors stock their booths with in-season, ripe produce that reflects the
diverse nature of Colorado’s growing season. Look for fresh greens, arugula,
and radishes early in the summer, then snag squash, tomatoes, and melons later
on.
For those interested in supporting Colorado’s ranching and
livestock community, buying meat directly from the source is the best way to do
it. Additionally, you’ll be minimizing packaging waste, shipping costs, and
eating healthy, consciously-raised meat. Rockin’ 4D Meats is a fifth
generation ranching operation that puts its cows’ needs before anything else.
Auma Gosh Recipes
The Metro Denver Farmers Market stands apart from other
markets in so many ways, but there’s one person who patrons can’t wait to see
each year. Auma Gosh has worked at the market for over 30 years. She has become the go-to
lady for what’s in season. Gosh has a book of recipes that utilize Colorado’s
seasonal produce in appetizers, lunches, dinners, and desserts.
Post Little Farmers Market Activities
If you’re looking for something fun to do after picking up
produce, spend some time strolling around Aspen Grove. Get a late lunch, or invite
friends for a movie during a rainy afternoon at the Alamo Drafthouse. Every so often, the retail
center hosts a new pop-up shop. Shopping, dining, and other amenities are numerous at Aspen Grove.
