Pop-up drive-in movies made a brief comeback
in 2020 during lockdown for their distinct ability to socially distance and
entertain customers simultaneously, but there is one that has been going strong
and delighting film-goers in the Denver area since 1972: the 88 Drive-in Theatre.
Round up some friends,
support this local business, and celebrate the special history and nostalgia of
the 88.
Open rain or shine seven days a week, the 88
proves that stellar customer service and top-notch operations are what it takes
to keep a classic business going in the modern world. Known for its huge screen
and state of the art digital projector, the 88 keeps its fans coming back year
after year (and decade after decade) with smart parking and good eats. Cars at
the drive-in are organized in the lot by height to optimize the viewing
experience, while the historic snack bar, featuring a full menu
of goodies, is always open for hungry patrons.
The 88 Drive-in is located at 8780 Rosemary Street in Commerce City,
Colorado. Tickets are $10 per person, whether customers choose to stay for one,
two, or all three of the nightly movie showings. Children under the age of 12
are always free of cost. Tickets are sold each evening at the box office
beginning at 7:00pm. The 88 does not sell group packages or advance tickets at
this time.
Films are
updated weekly, as allowed by the film companies, and guests can expect to see
at least one family-friendly movie in the line-up. Though the box office opens
early, showtime generally starts around 9pm, or when it is dark enough outside
for movies to be seen clearly.
